The photography department of UiTM (under the Faculty of Art & Design) is a community of young artists studying on the making and understanding of photo-based imageries. Students work in all modes of photography with the goal of pursuing a career as a freelancer, commercial photographer, or artist. The digital revolution in photographic imaging has caused a significant change in the choosing their professional field of photography. It is the Department's goal is to introduce these elements.

The students; encouraged to be affluent in all aspects of photographic technologies and venture with a communal spirit that expands beyond than just the field of their craft, but also to acknowledge the rest of art-based discipline.

Photography courses usually cover a wide range of topics with subject modules: The history of photography, Art history, Photographic equipment, Photographic processes, and Techniques in photography. Color theories, digital workflow, processing of images, photographic illustration, practical training with the working industry, exposure towards specific genre in photography; such as studio photography, photojournalism, architectural photography, and various others included in the educational program.
